Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi becomes the Nigerian with the most Premier League appearances.

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has made history as the Nigerian player with the highest number of appearances in the English Premier League.

Iwobi achieved the milestone on Saturday, October 18, when he featured for Fulham in their 1-0 defeat to his former club, Arsenal, at Craven Cottage. He played the full 90 minutes in the match, which was decided by a late goal from Arsenal.

Earlier this month, the 28-year-old had matched Shola Ameobi’s long-standing record of 298 Premier League games when he started for Fulham against Bournemouth. With his latest appearance, Iwobi has now moved ahead to claim the top spot outright.

His record-breaking moment came nearly 10 years after he made his Premier League debut for Arsenal against Swansea City on October 27, 2015 — making the feat even more symbolic as it happened against the club where his journey began.

Iwobi now sits at the top of the all-time Premier League appearance list for Nigerian players, ahead of:

Shola Ameobi – 298 appearances

Nwankwo Kanu – 273 appearances (Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion, Portsmouth)

Yakubu Aiyegbeni – 252 appearances

John Obi Mikel – 249 appearances (Chelsea)

Iwobi’s consistency and longevity in one of the world’s toughest leagues have earned him a place in Nigerian football history. Fans and analysts alike have praised his dedication and professionalism as he continues to represent the country with pride on the global stage.
