A throwback video of Nigerian international music star Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake or Mr Money, has resurfaced on social media. The old clip emerged after his recent visit to Ile Ife, Osun State, where he paid a courtesy visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
Asake recently made headlines after arriving at his alma mater, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), in a helicopter. During the visit, he also stopped at the Ooni’s palace. He was accompanied by his mother, socialite Yhemolee, actor Lala, and other members of his entourage.
The resurfaced video shows that this was not Asake’s first visit to the palace. In 2018, long before he became famous, Asake visited the Ooni alongside popular content creators Broda Shaggi and Yemi Elesho, also known as Broda Nuru. In one clip from that visit, a much younger Asake was seen sitting on the floor close to the Ooni in a playful and humble manner. Another video showed him happily popping balloons during the visit.
Asake’s journey to stardom began in 2022 when he was signed to YBNL Nation by rapper and music executive Olamide. His career quickly took off, leading to performances on major international stages, including a sold-out concert at the famous O2 Arena in London.
Now returning to Ile Ife as a global music star, Asake received a warm welcome from the community. Many people, including the Ooni of Ife, proudly celebrated him as a distinguished son of the town, highlighting his inspiring journey from a humble beginning to international success.
