Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has opened up about why she publicly apologised to veteran actor Afeez Owo after a brief misunderstanding between them.
The actress shared a video on her Instagram page showing the moment she visited Afeez Owo on a movie set to tender her apology in person. The reconciliation comes after Afeez, during an interview, commented that Wumi only reacts to issues when others provoke her. His remark didn’t sit well with her at the time, leading her to respond angrily online.
However, Wumi has now chosen to let go of the disagreement. In her caption, she said she apologised out of respect for cultural values and the need to honour elders.
In her words:
“I chose to apologize to our legend because I am a true ambassador of culture, and even in ‘anger’, our elders should be off limit.”
She added that elders deserve respect and peaceful interactions, not confrontation.
Wumi also addressed her fans and supporters, emphasizing that she has moved on from the issue.
She wrote:
“Also, because our elders deserve calm waters, not raised voices. Once again to our fans, friends, no more grudges. I have chosen peace.”
The actress’s gesture has been praised by many who see it as a step toward unity and humility within the film industry.
