Rivers Governor Fubara Vows to Deliver State for Tinubu in 2027 After Joining APC

The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has promised to deliver the state for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Fubara made this statement on Friday at the Government House in Port Harcourt while officially receiving his All Progressives Congress (APC) membership card from the party’s state chairman, Tony Okocha.

The governor recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, just days after 17 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly also joined the ruling party. According to him, his move will make it easier to mobilise support and strengthen the APC in the state ahead of the next general election.

Speaking as the new leader of the APC in Rivers State, Fubara said he would do everything possible to keep the party strong and active. He also assured party members that the state executive and the party structure would be properly supported under his leadership.

Fubara explained that his decision to join the APC was taken in the best interest of Rivers State, especially for its security, progress, and development. He said it would be difficult for the state to move forward while working against the direction of the Federal Government, which is controlled by the APC.

He also described his defection as a way of returning the favour to President Tinubu, whom he praised for making sacrifices to ensure his stability as governor.

In his words, Fubara said his mission was to “clear the bush” and make Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 easy and smooth in Rivers State. He added that now that both the state and federal governments are in the same party, it would be easier to fulfil the promises made to the president.

The governor concluded by assuring party members that from now on, the welfare and needs of the APC in Rivers State would be his responsibility, as he works to make the party the dominant political force in the state.
