Family Announces Burial Rites for Late Gospel Singer Bunmi Akinnaanu

Plans have been released for the final burial rites of late gospel singer and worship minister, Bunmi Akinnaanu, as her family, friends, and colleagues prepare to lay her to rest.


Bunmi Akinnaanu passed away on January 12 after a long battle with a serious leg ailment. Her condition had earlier drawn concern from fans and members of the gospel music community, many of whom prayed for her recovery. Months before her death, the singer had openly asked for prayers and healing while struggling with the illness.


The burial details were made public by fellow gospel singer Alayo Melody, who shared a burial flier on Instagram on Friday, outlining the programme of events.


According to the schedule, activities will begin on Tuesday, January 20, with a service of songs at the LTV 8 Ground in Ikeja, Lagos. This will be followed by a candlelight procession at 7:00 pm, and a tribute and artistes’ night at 8:00 pm on the same day.


The interment service will take place on Wednesday, January 21, and will be held privately for family members and close associates, as requested by the family.



The announcement has continued to draw emotional reactions, as many in the gospel music community mourn the loss of a devoted worship minister known for her faith and dedication.
