Nollywood actress Bakare Zainab has strongly reacted after a social media troll allegedly cursed her father over her emotional display at the Service of Songs for the late actress, Allwell Ademola.
Earlier, a video from Allwell Ademola’s Service of Songs went viral, showing Bakare Zainab breaking down in tears. The clip sparked mixed reactions online, with some critics accusing her of acting for the camera and questioning her closeness to the deceased. In response at the time, Bakare warned that she would address her critics after the burial, accusing them of using someone’s death to provoke her and test her patience.
Following Allwell Ademola’s burial, the actress revealed that the situation had escalated. According to Bakare, a troll sent her direct messages filled with curses directed at her father. Clearly upset, she condemned the act, saying she could no longer stay silent, especially when her family was being disrespected.
Bakare stated that she is not a celebrity who would ignore such behaviour and questioned the audacity of anyone who would involve her father in online attacks. She also challenged critics to focus on their own lives instead of policing how others grieve.
Expressing her anger and disbelief, the actress reminded social media users that grief is personal and should not be judged. She urged people to reflect on how they treat others, especially during moments of loss, and warned that everyone will one day face death and be judged by how they lived.
Bakare Zainab’s reaction has since sparked fresh conversations online about cyberbullying, respect for the dead, and the boundaries that should not be crossed during periods of mourning.
