The Lagos State Government has dismissed reports claiming that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise has resumed across the state.
The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, clarified that no official date has been fixed for the return of the exercise.
Wahab explained that during a recent project inspection tour, he only informed journalists that discussions with key stakeholders were still ongoing. He said the government had planned to begin with a public sensitisation programme last week but faced logistical challenges.
According to him, the state needs to agree on a date that will be suitable for all stakeholders before making any formal announcement.
He expressed confidence that the sanitation exercise may resume soon, adding that the official date will be announced by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The commissioner also advised residents to continue their normal daily activities, assuring them that the government will provide proper notice before reintroducing the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
