Nigerian Teenager Sentenced to Life in UK for Murd@r of Robert Robinson

A Nigerian teenager, Jackson Uwagboe, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the United Kingdom for the murder of 21-year-old Robert Robinson.

Uwagboe, 19, of Hamilton Street, Lewisham, fled to Nigeria after carrying out a “vicious attack” in south-east London on June 6, 2024, in Deptford. He was convicted on February 10, 2026, at the Old Bailey for murder, robbery, and possession of a bladed article. On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, he was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years.

Two other men, Ryan Wedderburn, 18, and Kirk Harris, 19, were convicted in May 2025 for Robinson’s murder and given life sentences, with minimum terms of 23 years and 22 years 9 months, respectively.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Robinson suffered 12 serious stab wounds, including defensive injuries, showing he tried to protect himself. He died at the scene on Carteret Way, Deptford. After the attack, all three men fled, with Uwagboe leaving the UK. He returned on February 25, 2025, and was arrested at Gatwick Airport.

Detective Inspector Neil Tovey, who led the investigation, said:

"Robert was subjected to a brutal and sustained attack by a group of men armed with knives. He was unarmed, already wounded, and on the ground when Uwagboe attacked him. His claims of self-defence were entirely without foundation."

Tovey added that the verdicts represented “justice for Robert Robinson and his family,” who endured two trials due to Uwagboe fleeing the country.

The case has drawn widespread attention for its brutality and the pursuit of justice for the victim’s family.
