“I’m no longer chasing Grammys; I want to focus on making authentic African music,” – singer Davido reveals

Nigerian music star Davido has revealed that he is no longer focused on winning Grammy Awards as he enters a new stage in his career.

Speaking on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show with Eddie Kadi, Davido said he has already achieved major global milestones, including performing worldwide, selling out arenas, and receiving multiple Grammy nominations in recent years.

According to the singer, he now feels fulfilled with his achievements and wants to focus on making music that truly represents who he is. He explained that his upcoming projects will reflect his African identity rather than targeting Western audiences.

Davido stated that the next phase of his music will be “very African” and authentic to his roots, adding that he is no longer interested in creating Western-style sounds.

He also highlighted his strong fanbase in South Africa, noting that many people there know and support his music. Over the years, the singer has worked with several South African artists and continues to maintain a strong presence across the continent.
