Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has addressed the ongoing controversy involving one of her biggest fans, Motun, who is accused of scamming people online.
Motun, who built her Instagram page around being a loyal fan of the actress, reportedly created the impression that she had close access to Iyabo Ojo. This claim allegedly helped her gain the trust of other fans.
According to reports, Motun organised a fan contribution scheme, popularly known as “ajo,” where participants paid money with the promise of receiving payouts and an opportunity to meet the actress in person. However, several contributors later came forward online, claiming they never received their money. Others alleged that they were blocked after questioning the situation, which led to public outrage and dragged Iyabo Ojo into the issue.
Reacting during an Instagram live session, Iyabo Ojo denied any involvement with Motun’s activities. She clarified that although she had shown appreciation to the fan in the past, she never assigned her any official role or responsibility, including claims that she was given a lead role in her movie.
The actress also issued a strong warning, asking Motun to stop using her name to promote her movie and to return a premiere ticket that had been given to her.
Iyabo Ojo’s statement aims to clear her name from the allegations, as the controversy continues to generate mixed reactions among fans on social media.
