President Bola Tinubu seeks Senate confirmation for Taiwo Oyedele and Magnus Abe

President Bola Tinubu has formally written to the Nigerian Senate requesting the screening and confirmation of two key appointments.

The President asked the Senate to confirm Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance and former Magnus Abe as chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.

These requests were communicated in separate letters read during plenary by the Godswill Akpabio. In his letter, President Tinubu highlighted that Oyedele’s confirmation is part of ongoing adjustments within the Federal Executive Council.

Before his nomination, Oyedele, from Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, served as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms. In that role, he led reforms aimed at overhauling Nigeria’s tax system.

Oyedele has extensive experience in the private sector, having spent 22 years at PwC. He joined in 2001 and rose to become the Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.

The Senate is now expected to screen and decide on these nominations in line with constitutional procedures.
