APC Candidate Danladi Envulu-Anza Wins Nasarawa North Senatorial By-Election

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Danladi Halilu Envulu-Anza, has emerged victorious in the Nasarawa North Senatorial District by-election after securing a decisive win at the polls.

The by-election was held on June 20, 2026, to fill the vacant Senate seat left behind by the late Godiya Akwashiki, who passed away after a prolonged illness.

The final results were announced on Sunday by the Returning Officer, Aminu Ali, at the collation centre located at the College of Education in Akwanga. The results were compiled from the three local government areas that make up the senatorial district: Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon, and Wamba.

According to the official figures, Danladi Envulu-Anza of the APC polled 45,362 votes to defeat his closest rivals. The candidate of the Labour Party, Labaran Maku, secured 12,931 votes, while Emmanuel David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 11,570 votes.

Other candidates also participated in the election. Alaku Mohammed Steve of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) scored 1,496 votes, while John Paul of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) received 102 votes.

After announcing the results, Prof. Ali declared that Danladi Envulu-Anza had met all legal requirements and was therefore returned elected as the senator representing Nasarawa North Senatorial District.

The victory gives the APC control of the seat previously occupied by the late Senator Akwashiki and marks another important political win for the party in Nasarawa State.
