Afrobeats star Davido has reacted angrily to comments made by Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, following a recent exchange on social media.
Omokri had earlier explained that his diplomatic posting to Mexico was yet to be activated because the country was currently focused on hosting the ongoing FIFA World Cup. According to him, administrative and diplomatic processes had slowed due to the global tournament.
He said:
“Mexico has not rejected me, they are focusing on the World Cup right now.”
The statement came after Omokri had previously criticized Davido over his performance at the World Cup opening ceremony, where the singer used the platform to draw attention to the Oyo State abduction case and called for the release of the victims.
Reacting to Omokri’s latest comment, Davido fired back on social media in a heated response, writing:
“UMU BINGO @renoomokri fowl”
The exchange has since sparked reactions online, with users divided over the comments from both public figures as the debate continues to trend on social media.
