Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji has joined the growing number of Nigerians expressing concern over insecurity in the country, particularly the safety of schoolchildren and teachers.
In a message shared on his social media page, the actor lamented the state of insecurity, questioning how schools, once considered safe spaces for learning, have become targets for criminal activities.
According to him, it is painful to see innocent and vulnerable children caught in dangerous situations while political activities and campaign promises continue as usual.
Lateef wrote:
“This is beyond the rhythm of the song and the melody behind the lyrics; it is about our pain, our unwanted reality.”
He expressed shock over the growing threats facing students and teachers, saying:
“Who would have thought that classrooms would no longer be safe? Who would have thought that vulnerable children would be turned over to pawns in the hands of the people we elected?”
The actor also noted that with elections approaching, politicians are once again making promises, while many families continue to suffer from insecurity and uncertainty.
“Election is around the corner, and they’re making promises again. Innocent children are in the hands of daredevils, yet it’s business as usual for them.”
Making a direct appeal to government officials, Lateef urged them to take immediate action and ensure the safe return of the affected children and their teachers.
He wrote:
“Dear people in government, pick up the call. You know what to do, we’re begging you. Do it. Bring back the kids and their teachers… Edakun.”
His statement has resonated with many Nigerians online, with several people echoing his concerns and calling for stronger efforts to tackle insecurity and protect schools across the country.
