Nollywood actress Laide Bakare is celebrating a major milestone in her family as her daughter, Similoluwa Chelsea Aliya, turns 18 today, September 3.
The proud mother took to social media to share adorable photos of the celebrant, expressing amazement at how quickly the years have passed. Reflecting on her daughter’s journey from childhood to adulthood, Laide admitted that it still feels like only yesterday when she held her as a baby.
With Similoluwa officially stepping into adulthood, the actress said her heart was filled with mixed emotions as she celebrated her daughter’s special day.
“I honestly don’t know where the years went. It feels like just yesterday I held you in my arms as my baby, and today, Similoluwa Chelsea Aliya OK is 18!”
Laide also apologised to her daughter over the birthday photoshoot, revealing that it had to be done in a rush due to her busy schedule. The actress expressed regret that she did not have more time to make the celebration and photoshoot as perfect as she had hoped.
However, she reassured her daughter that despite her demanding schedule, her love for her would never diminish.
The Yoruba movie star went on to appreciate Similoluwa for the unconditional love and understanding she has shown her over the years. According to Laide, her daughter has always accepted and loved her for who she is, something she described as deeply meaningful.
Laide also proudly pointed out the striking resemblance between herself and the celebrant, describing her daughter as her “beautiful reflection,” “mini-me,” and “answered prayer.”
As her daughter begins a new chapter as an adult, the actress offered heartfelt prayers for her, asking God to guide her steps, protect her from evil and bless her with wisdom, favour, genuine love and beautiful opportunities.
Describing Similoluwa as one of the greatest gifts God has given her, Laide Bakare expressed gratitude for the privilege of being her mother.
The emotional birthday tribute has added to the excitement surrounding Similoluwa’s 18th birthday, with fans and well-wishers expected to join the actress in celebrating the young woman as she marks her official transition into adulthood.
