A video capturing the moment the convicted police officer, Drambi Vandi, was escorted out of court after receiving a death sentence by hanging for the murder of Lagos lawyer Bolanle Raheem has surfaced online.
On October 9, 2023, Justice Ibironke Harrison of the Lagos State High Court, situated at the Tafawa Balewa Square annex on Lagos Island, delivered a verdict in the case. Vandi was found guilty of the murder of Raheem, which occurred on Christmas Day, December 25, 2023. The fatal incident unfolded when Raheem and her husband were driving, and the officer fired a shot, tragically killing her instantly.
In her judgment, Justice Harrison declared that the prosecution, led by the Lagos State Government, had successfully proven the case against the convict "beyond all reasonable doubt." Consequently, she pronounced the verdict: "The court finds the defendant guilty on one count of murder. You will be hanged by the neck till you are dead."
