Viral Video of Ooni of Ife's 7-Day Fast and 50-Kilogram Aare Crown Stuns Internet During Olojo Festival

The internet is buzzing with reactions to a viral video featuring the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, wearing the sacred Aare crown during the Olojo festival.

It has been revealed that the Ooni of Ife observed a rigorous 7-day fast without food and wore a 50-kilogram Aare crown during the festival.

The Olojo Festival is a significant cultural event in Yoruba tradition held annually in Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, dedicated to honoring the deity "Ogun," associated with Iron and believed to be the first son of Oduduwa, a Yoruba ancestral figure.

The Yoruba term 'Olojo' translates to 'The Day Of The First Dawn,' symbolizing gratitude towards God's creation and human existence. Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi described it as a festival celebrating the global Black race.

In the video, the Ooni of Ife appeared visibly fatigued as he struggled to move while wearing the sacred Aare crown. The crown is considered a symbol of authority inherited from ancestors, believed to be made from various items, including cutlass, hoe, and 149 undisclosed objects. It is said to hold great power, renewing the king's abilities and strength to rule with truth.
