President Tinubu's Generous Gesture: Orders Customs to Release Seized Food Items to Owners

President Bola Tinubu has issued a compassionate directive to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), urging them to release food items seized at border communities back to their rightful owners. This decision was conveyed by the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, during a meeting with residents from border areas at Kongolam and Mai’Adua border stations on Saturday, March 9.

Adeniyi emphasized that President Tinubu's decision was not bound by legal guidelines but was a testament to his profound generosity towards Nigeria. In an extraordinary move, the President directed that the confiscated food items, intended for export, be returned to their owners on the condition that they are sold within Nigerian markets.

This directive serves as a remarkable intervention, aiming to alleviate food scarcity concerns within the country. It underscores President Tinubu's commitment to addressing the needs of Nigerians, particularly in ensuring access to essential commodities. Furthermore, Adeniyi highlighted that strict monitoring measures would be implemented to ensure compliance with this directive, ensuring that the returned food items are indeed circulated within Nigerian markets, contributing to local economic activities.
