Lagos State Government demolishes houses blocking drainage channels in Ojota and Ogudu

Today, the Lagos state Ministry of Environment and Water Resources undertook a significant action by demolishing houses positioned along the Right of Way of the System 1 Drainage channel. The demolitions were concentrated in two areas: Ojota and Ogudu.

Specifically, the targeted structures were located midstream, near Odo Iya Alaro in the Ojota area, and by Ajose street in Maryland. These houses were deemed to be encroaching upon the designated Right of Way of the drainage channel, posing potential risks and hindrances to the effectiveness of the drainage system.

The demolitions signify the government's commitment to ensuring the functionality and efficiency of vital infrastructure like drainage channels, especially in areas prone to flooding and water-related issues. This action aims to mitigate future risks and safeguard the well-being of residents within the vicinity of the System 1 Drainage channel.
