Nigerians have responded to a heartfelt post by veteran Nollywood actress Idowu Phillips, popularly known as Mama Rainbow, who celebrated Davido and Chioma Adeleke's upcoming wedding. The couple is set to make their relationship official tomorrow, June 25, 2024, and anticipation is high.
Mama Rainbow shared a pre-wedding photo of Davido and Chioma while reminiscing about her late husband, Ayanfemi. She reflected on their wedding in the 1950s and lamented his loss, imagining how he would have reacted if their roles were reversed, with her being the one who passed away.
Her post read: “Haa I remember me and my dearest husband Alamu ogo on our wedding day in the 1950s 😭 . Happy marriage life Mr and Mrs Adeleke ❤️🤍 . My love, my sweet husband Ayanfemi although I know there is no use, sometimes my mind will wander to what it would have been like if life were reversed. If I had been the one that died that day.👌 If I was the one who lay on the side of the river without a breath in my chest, and you were the one who received the call in the hallway of our home. I think about what it would have been like for you, my love, how you would have reacted upon hearing those words. Hearing that I had taken my last breath and closed my eyes, leaving you to keep going without the comfort of my presence in a world that is spinning out of control. Still missing you Oko mi. Alamu ogo.”
Mixed reactions followed her post, with many criticizing her for not directly congratulating the couple and using their picture to mourn her husband. In response to the backlash, Mama Rainbow edited her post to include a congratulatory message for Davido and Chioma.
