Nollywood star Lateef Adedimeji recently expressed frustration over the limited release of his latest film Lisabi on Netflix, which was only made available to African viewers despite expectations of a global release. The actor, who poured significant effort into the production, revealed in an interview with The Nation that he has been in constant communication with Netflix, urging them to address the issue.
Fans, eager to watch the film internationally, have flooded Adedimeji’s inbox with complaints, expressing their disappointment over the restricted access. Lateef shared that some fans even blamed him personally, though he clarified that he has no control over Netflix's distribution.
In the interview, Lateef noted, “I’ve sent several emails to Netflix because it was supposed to be a global release. It’s not just for Africa; it’s our story that the world needs to see.”
He added that while the situation has caused some upset, he remains optimistic that Netflix will respond and make the necessary changes, allowing Lisabi to reach a wider audience.
Fans and supporters are hopeful that the streaming giant will soon expand the film’s reach, so international audiences can also enjoy the highly praised work.
