Nollywood actor Gabriel Afolayan has shared a thought-provoking perspective on the popular saying, "There is light at the end of the tunnel." In a series of dapper photos posted on Instagram, the actor expressed his disagreement with the adage, offering an alternative outlook.
Afolayan argued that the idea of waiting for light at the end of a tunnel is flawed. Instead, he emphasized the importance of creating and enjoying light throughout the journey, rather than focusing solely on the destination. He highlighted that not all tunnels end with light, urging people to abandon the saying and focus on consistent hard work and enjoyment along the way.
He wrote, *“Stepping away from metaphor, light at the end of the tunnel? What do I need light at the end of a tunnel for? No, get that light inside the tunnel. Should I wait for the end of the tunnel to reach it? Let there be light (enjoyment) throughout the process (work) of getting to the end of the tunnel.
Better put, it should be that there is light at the end of a dark tunnel, which is not always true because the end of a dark tunnel can also be as dark as dark.”*
His deep reflections resonated with many fans, sparking discussions about the relevance of the adage in today’s fast-paced world. Many praised his wisdom and agreed that embracing joy and light throughout life’s journey is a more fulfilling approach.
