Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has opened up about her painful journey to motherhood, sharing an inspiring testimony of resilience and faith. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the actress detailed the physical, emotional, and psychological challenges she faced over the years, including failed relationships, medical complications, and societal ridicule.
Amusa revealed her lifelong dream of becoming a wife and mother, but her reality was marked by struggles. After experiencing three miscarriages, she was diagnosed with uterine myomatosis in 2015. The condition caused immense monthly discomfort, and doctors recommended removing her womb, a suggestion she refused. Instead, she opted for surgery abroad, undergoing a TCRE laparoscopy and ovarian drilling procedure in the UK on Valentine’s Day, 2015.
Despite medical intervention, the road to motherhood remained difficult. By 2016, Amusa discovered one of her fallopian tubes was damaged, making natural conception almost impossible. She and her partner attempted to conceive again but faced repeated failures. Amid their struggles, her partner fathered a child with another woman, ultimately leading to their separation.
Her second relationship fared no better. Despite trying IVF treatments, Amusa’s supposed husband grew impatient and proposed having a child with another woman while waiting for her miracle baby. Unable to accept his suggestion, Amusa ended the relationship, and he soon fathered a baby girl with someone else.
The actress described falling into a deep depression, withdrawing from friends, family, and even her career. She struggled financially and emotionally, feeling the weight of public criticism, including being labeled "barren." Through it all, her mother remained her pillar of strength, urging her to relocate for a change of environment. In 2021, Amusa finally agreed, moving abroad with her mother’s support.
Her move marked a turning point. Though she withheld specific details, Amusa revealed that God answered her prayers in 2024, fulfilling her dream of becoming a mother. Reflecting on her journey, she wrote about the silent battles of infertility—the blame, self-doubt, societal judgment, and financial strain—and the toll it took on her mental health.
Amusa concluded by expressing gratitude to God for transforming her pain into purpose and restoring her joy. Her emotional testimony has sparked widespread admiration, with fans and colleagues praising her courage and faith.
