Security Aides Withdrawn from Lagos Speaker Mojisola Meranda Amid Resignation Speculations

All security aides attached to Speaker Mojisola Meranda of the Lagos State House of Assembly have been withdrawn, leaving her vulnerable, sources confirmed on Thursday morning.

The security personnel, including police officers assigned to her and the House of Assembly, were removed in a sudden development. A source close to the Speaker expressed concern over her safety, emphasizing that the withdrawal had left her unprotected.

This move comes amid strong indications that Meranda may resign from her position as Speaker. Reports suggest that the intervention of key figures within the All Progressives Congress (APC), including former Osun State Governor Chief Bisi Akande and former Ogun State Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba, played a role in the ongoing political shift.

The duo led a mediation panel last Sunday, holding discussions with key stakeholders of the Lagos State House of Assembly, including members of the Governance Advisory Council. The meeting took place at the Governor’s Lodge in Marina, sparking speculations about possible changes in the Assembly’s leadership.
