Popular Ibadan-based Fuji singer, Alhaji Taye Adebisi, better known as Taye Currency, has reaffirmed that Wasiu Alabi Pasuma is his boss while describing Saheed Osupa as merely his colleague.
Currently in Saudi Arabia for the Umrah pilgrimage, Taye Currency made this revelation in an interview with Akede Ariya, where he discussed his longstanding relationship with Pasuma and addressed previous controversies surrounding their bond.
Clearing the Air on His Relationship with Pasuma
Taye Currency recalled meeting Pasuma in 1993 and emphasized that although he never learned Fuji music from him, he has deep admiration for Pasuma’s humility and character. He dismissed claims of a feud between them, explaining that any perceived dispute was fueled by fans and online speculations.
He clarified, “I didn’t learn Fuji music from Pasuma, but I admire him because of his humility. I was never his drummer or backup singer. The misunderstanding between us was caused by fan reactions. We are not fighting.”
He further noted that misunderstandings are normal in any relationship, especially one that spans over three decades, but stressed that both he and Pasuma are not troublemakers.
Past Controversy Over His Comments on Pasuma
In October 2024, Taye Currency sparked controversy when he rejected claims that Pasuma was a “father figure” to him in the Fuji music industry. He instead referred to Pasuma as an elder brother, a statement that angered many of Pasuma’s fans, who felt he was downplaying Pasuma’s influence.
Following widespread criticism, the issue resurfaced when Taye Currency unexpectedly met Pasuma in Mecca on Wednesday during the ongoing Umrah 2025. Seizing the opportunity, he publicly apologized for any offense his comments may have caused.
Taye Currency Apologizes to Pasuma in Viral Video
In a now-viral video, Taye Currency acknowledged that his statements had been misinterpreted and reaffirmed that Pasuma is indeed his boss. He emphasized that he never intended to disrespect the 56-year-old Fuji star and expressed his unwavering respect and loyalty to him.
The apology sparked massive reactions on social media, with fans sharing mixed opinions in the comment section.
