"I Would Choose to Abandon My Acting Career Over and Over Again" — Veteran Actress Opeyemi Aiyeola Reaffirms Her Exit from Nollywood

Veteran Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has once again confirmed that she has no regrets about stepping away from her acting career, stating boldly that she would make the same decision if given the chance again.

The 47-year-old star took to Instagram to share a video of herself enjoying music in her car. Alongside the video, she dropped a powerful message, writing:

“Walahi, if given the opportunity again, I will choose to abandon my acting career over and over again. It is my journey, experience, struggles, and the rewards sweet me die.”

In her caption, she revealed how she stays positive despite being labeled a "failed actress" by some critics, saying her personal sacrifices have brought results that make her proud.

Opeyemi's post was met with overwhelming support from fans and fellow celebrities, many of whom praised her strength, her past contributions to Nollywood, and her courage to prioritize peace and personal fulfillment over fame.

Her statement comes in the wake of a public disagreement with fellow actress Eniola Badmus. The clash began when Eniola commented under one of Opeyemi’s Instagram videos, asking, “Ope, where is your front hair?”

Opeyemi interpreted the comment as a form of body shaming and expressed disappointment, reminding Eniola of her own history of being mocked online. Though Eniola later apologized, Opeyemi felt the apology was insincere and made it clear that they were not close enough for such jokes.

While she eventually took down her video addressing the issue, Opeyemi maintained her stance and used the opportunity to speak out against online disrespect, further showing her dedication to self-respect and emotional growth.

Her bold statements continue to spark conversations on self-worth, boundaries, and the evolving priorities of Nollywood veterans.
