“Dating a narcissist is the worst thing that can happen to anyone” – Ashabi Dresses as a Mad Woman, Addresses Her Toxic Relationship With Portable

Nollywood actress Omobolarinde Akinyanju, popularly known as Ashabi, has stirred reactions online after sharing photos of herself dressed like a mad woman ahead of her birthday. In a long emotional post, the actress explained that the photos represent what life tried to turn her into in her late 20s, but God stepped in and changed her story.

According to Ashabi, the images show pain, struggle, and survival. She thanked God for strength and grace, saying things could have been worse, but God never left her.

“Hmmmm, this is an example of what life showed me in my late 20s and how life wanted me to look, but thank God for the strength and grace because it could have been worse than this, but God didn’t leave me,” she wrote.

Ashabi also appreciated her family for standing by her through difficult times and for helping her avoid depression.

“Thanks to my families who didn’t leave me through thick and thin, trying not to let me be depressed. Thank God I’ve never been and I will never be, by God’s grace,” she added.

Speaking on social media, the Yoruba actress described the internet as a place where people judge others based on their own understanding of life. She noted that even if people wear the same shoe size, it will not fit the same way.

“The internet is a platform where people judge others according to their own perspective. Blame is easy, understanding is wiser,” Ashabi stated.

Opening up about her career, Ashabi revealed that she worked for many years behind the camera as a filmmaker and script supervisor before switching to acting. She said sleepless nights, brainstorming, hard work, and consistency helped her gain recognition. However, her move into full-time acting came with losses.

“I worked so hard for years behind the camera. I shot many movies with my hard-earned money which didn’t yield well. I started calculating loss more than gain, and it drained me financially, mentally, and physically,” she wrote.

Ashabi also spoke frankly about her love life, describing her relationship with singer Portable as toxic. She referred to him as a narcissist, saying he is jealous, unpredictable, and has anger issues.

“Dating a narcissist is the worst thing that could happen to someone. You can’t predict their next move. I wake up every day thinking of how best to manage this soul,” she said.

She added that loving someone who sees you as a competitor or does not truly support your growth is painful, especially when children are involved and outside advice makes decisions more complicated.

In conclusion, Ashabi prayed for healing and a fresh start as she prepares to enter a new year.

“God, this new age I’m about to start, make it a new phase. Heal me and come through for me physically, spiritually, mentally, financially, and psychologically,” she wrote.

Her post has continued to generate conversations online, with many fans praising her honesty and courage for speaking openly about her struggles.
