Dangote Files Fresh Corruption Petition Against Farouk Ahmed at EFCC

Billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has taken a new step in his corruption allegations against Farouk Ahmed, the former Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

According to a statement released on Friday by the Dangote Group media team, Dangote has now submitted a formal petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.

Recall that Dangote had earlier written a petition to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), accusing Ahmed of allegedly spending about 5 million dollars on his children’s secondary school education in Switzerland. However, Dangote withdrew the petition from the ICPC a few days ago, even though the commission stated that it would continue its investigation.

Explaining the new move, the statement said the decision to take the matter to the EFCC followed the withdrawal of the earlier petition from the ICPC. It described the move as a strategic step aimed at speeding up the investigation and prosecution process.

The development shows Dangote’s determination to pursue the corruption allegations through the appropriate legal channels, as the EFCC is now expected to review the petition and take necessary action.
