Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has once again made Nigeria proud by setting new records in Canadian and North American cinemas with her 2025 movie, Behind The Scenes.
The box office queen, who has already crossed ₦2 billion in earnings, announced on Instagram that Behind The Scenes grossed over $111,256 in Canada within its opening days. This achievement makes it the highest-grossing Nollywood film ever released in the country.
The movie also performed strongly in the United States and other parts of North America, where it earned $190,249, becoming the biggest Nollywood release in the region so far. With these new figures, Funke Akindele’s total box office earnings have now climbed to over ₦2.2 billion.
Reacting to the milestone, Akindele expressed deep gratitude and said she does not take the success for granted. She thanked fans in Canada, the United States, Nigeria, and Ghana for their massive support, describing them as her “FANmily.”
According to her, while hard work, consistency, and personal growth are important, the journey has taught her that it is ultimately God’s mercy and the unwavering love of her supporters that make everything come together. She said she is overwhelmed with gratitude and thankful to everyone who has continued to stand by her and her work.
