“I Will Deliver Abia to APC in 2027” – Orji Uzor Kalu

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has declared that he is determined to ensure the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins Abia State in the 2027 general elections.

The lawmaker, who represents Abia North Senatorial District, made this known during his annual New Year visit to the APC chairman in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, at Ekoli in Edda Local Government Area of the state. Kalu said he is ready to use all political resources available to him to take Abia State from the Labour Party and return it to the APC.

According to him, he will fully support President Bola Tinubu and the APC governorship candidate in the coming elections. He stressed that he is committed to working hard to ensure a landslide victory for the party in Abia.

Kalu also addressed his relationship with the current Abia State governor, Alex Otti. While admitting that they are friends, he made it clear that friendship would not affect his political mission. He said politics is about victory for his party, not personal relationships.

The former Abia governor also spoke on the issue of insecurity in the country. He called on state governors to take more responsibility for security in their states instead of leaving everything to President Tinubu. Kalu recalled that during his time as governor, Abia State enjoyed strong security, with no cases of kidnapping or major crimes.

He praised Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, for maintaining peace and stability and urged other state leaders to follow his example.

Explaining the reason for his New Year visit, Kalu said his relationship with the Ebonyi APC chairman is based on long-standing trust and loyalty. He described Okoro-Emegha as someone he has known since childhood and credited him as part of the success he recorded while in office.

Kalu also recalled introducing Okoro-Emegha to former Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi, advising him to remain loyal to his leader. He noted that the APC chairman has continued to uphold that value till today.

Kalu’s statements reflect the APC’s renewed push to strengthen its presence in the South-East region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
