Manchester City have made a move to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, with talks reportedly underway to agree on terms with the England defender. City have also opened discussions with Palace over a transfer fee for the 25-year-old.
Crystal Palace are reportedly asking for around £40 million for their skipper, who has just six months remaining on his current contract. If Guehi were to leave as a free agent in the summer, he would be giving up a significant signing-on fee.
However, Manchester City are understood to have made a substantial offer, promising to beat any deal he might receive at the end of the season, demonstrating their strong interest in securing the defender immediately.
Guehi’s potential move comes after Palace manager Oliver Glasner had previously blocked a deadline-day transfer to Liverpool last summer, although he has now indicated that a sale this month could be possible.
The talented defender has also attracted interest from top European clubs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, highlighting his rising profile in world football.
Last summer, Liverpool came close to signing Guehi, with the player even undergoing a medical on deadline day, but the transfer fell through when Palace pulled out of the deal.
With Manchester City now pushing for his signature, a high-profile transfer could be finalized in the coming weeks as clubs continue to chase the highly-rated England international.
