Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, delivered an emotional and memorable speech at the traditional wedding of his son, Gbolahan Adeleke, to his bride, Damilola Adio, held over the weekend in Lagos.
A video of the governor’s speech later surfaced on social media, drawing attention as he spoke openly about fatherhood, love, and family values. In his remarks, Adeleke shared personal stories about his long conversations with his son on marriage and life.
The governor recalled how Gbolahan often told him he was still “testing” when asked about settling down. He explained that over the years, he had closely observed his son’s relationships and realised that they both shared similar standards when it came to choosing a life partner.
According to Adeleke, he was never fully convinced about the women his son introduced to the family in the past. However, he said everything changed the moment Gbolahan brought Damilola home. The governor said he immediately knew she was the right woman for his son.
Adeleke also expressed appreciation to the Adio family for accepting his son and trusting their daughter to the Adeleke family. He spoke about the efforts made to build the relationship between both families, including phone calls and trips abroad to seek the family’s approval before fixing the wedding date.
Concluding his speech, the governor celebrated the union and promised to take good care of his daughter-in-law. He described the wedding day as one made by God and thanked the bride’s family for allowing their daughter to marry into his family, assuring them that she would be loved and protected.
