Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has shared his opinion on gender roles and financial responsibility in marriage, stating what he believes should be a man’s main duty in the home.
Speaking on the issue, Chatta said that one of a man’s responsibilities in life is to take care of women. According to him, when a man takes good care of his wife, he will prosper.
He explained that his view is not about opposing gender equality or stopping women from being financially independent. He made it clear that he has no problem with a woman earning more than her husband.
“I am not against equality or a woman being richer than me,” he said. “But if my wife had an estate, I would still prefer us living in the house I built, pay the children’s school fees and buy foodstuffs.”
The actor stressed that providing for his family — including housing, education, and daily needs — is something he sees as a matter of pride and personal principle.
His comments reflect his strong belief in traditional marital roles, even as modern society continues to promote shared financial responsibilities between couples.
