Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has opened up about her marriage, stating clearly that divorce is not an option for her.
In a recent interview, she explained that while she is not opposed to divorce in general, her personal experience with her husband, Mathew Ekeinde, makes it unnecessary. The actress described her husband as selfless and without ego, noting that they have been married for over 30 years without ever fighting over trivial matters.
Omotola emphasized that trust is a key part of their relationship, saying her husband does not disturb her and that they both respect each other’s space and work commitments. She also highlighted that every marriage is unique, and what works for one couple may not apply to another.
Speaking on her long-lasting marriage, she said:
“Divorce isn’t an option for me. It doesn’t mean it isn’t an option for you. I am not against divorce. I just always believe that marriage is a very personal thing. My marriage can never be the same thing as your marriage. No two marriages are the same because no two persons are the same. The ingredients might not be the same.
My husband is a very selfless person; he has no ego. I’ve been married to him for over 30 years, and we have never fought over a girl. So, I don’t have those kinds of problems. He doesn’t disturb me. If I have to go do my work, he trusts me totally, and I trust him. So, our indices might not be the same as yours.”
