The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police Anthony Placid as the new Force Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
Placid will take over the position from Benjamin Hundeyin, who previously served as the spokesperson for the police.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Sunday by Hundeyin at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. In the statement, he signed off as the outgoing Force PRO while confirming the appointment of his successor.
According to the statement, Anthony Placid is a seasoned police officer with many years of professional experience. His career in the force includes roles in administration, operations, intelligence gathering, training, and participation in international peacekeeping missions.
Placid was born on December 2, 1970, in Uyo, located in Akwa Ibom State. He is originally from Mbiokporo Nsit in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of the state.
In terms of education, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Uyo. He also obtained a Master of Arts degree in Law and Diplomacy from the University of Jos.
In addition, Placid studied law at the National Open University of Nigeria, where he pursued a Bachelor of Laws degree.
With his wide experience in policing and academic background, Placid is expected to strengthen communication and public engagement for the Nigeria Police Force in his new role as Force Public Relations Officer.
