A heated exchange has broken out online between social media commentator Daniel Regha and activist-lawyer Deji Adeyanju following comments about Nigeria’s electricity challenges.
The disagreement began after Adeyanju appeared on the Honest Bunch Podcast, where he discussed Nigerians’ expectations around electricity supply and affordability.
Reacting to the interview, Regha strongly disagreed with Adeyanju’s views, saying his argument was disconnected from the reality faced by ordinary Nigerians. He insisted that citizens deserve 24-hour electricity and should be able to afford it if the system is properly managed.
Regha also argued that poor electricity supply increases the cost of goods and affects businesses, especially those that depend heavily on power to operate.
He wrote that electricity should be treated as a basic public service, not a luxury, adding that in a well-functioning country, power supply would not be divided into different “bands.”
In a more personal attack, Regha criticised Adeyanju’s professional credibility, suggesting disappointment in his comments as a lawyer.
The exchange has since sparked reactions online, with users divided over the debate on electricity pricing, access, and governance in Nigeria.
