Nollywood actor Kunle Omisore has opened up about his personal struggles, revealing how he sometimes battles loneliness and emotional pressure while trying to shield his children from his worries.
Speaking during an interview on the YouTube series Behind the Fame – African A-List, Omisore explained that whenever he is troubled, he sometimes remains in his car outside his home for a while to calm himself before going inside.
According to the actor, he does this because he does not want his children to notice that something is wrong with him. He admitted that the situation can sometimes leave him feeling lonely.
“I don’t have a wife. Anytime I’m troubled outside, when I get home I park outside for a while and calm down, so the children won’t know anything is wrong with me.”
He added:
“Sometimes it hurts because I feel lonely in the house.”
Actor Reveals Challenges of Nollywood
Omisore also spoke about the financial realities of working in Nollywood, describing the industry as highly competitive and claiming that actors can sometimes put in significant effort without receiving adequate payment.
He stressed that actors need to remain dedicated and intentional about their craft, noting that securing major roles does not necessarily guarantee good financial rewards.
The actor revealed that although he has started taking lead roles in movies, he has worked on some productions without receiving payment. He added that even when actors are paid, the amount may not always reflect the effort and expenses involved.
“I Could Spend N2.5 Million on Agbada and Get Paid N500,000”
Omisore explained that many of his roles portray wealthy characters, meaning he is sometimes expected to provide several expensive traditional outfits for filming.
According to him, he could be asked to bring as many as five Agbada outfits to a location, with the total cost potentially exceeding N2.5 million.
However, he claimed that after completing the job, he could receive as little as N500,000.
“That 5 Agbada is nothing less than N2.5 million and the moment I am done, I might be paid N500k.”
The actor’s revelations highlight some of the financial and personal pressures he says come with pursuing a career in Nollywood, particularly for actors who invest heavily in their appearance and roles while dealing with inconsistent income.
