JAMB PUBLICLY ANNOUNCES REGISTRATION DATE FOR THE 2023 UTME (DETAILS)

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that registration for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will begin on Saturday, January 14, 2023, and will end on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

The examination body stated some major dates for its activities in 2023 in a statement issued on Tuesday, December 20, by the board's Head of Media and Information, Mister Fabian Benjamin, at the end of its management meeting held in Abuja.

According to a JAMB spokesman, Direct Entry registration will begin on Monday, February 20th and will end on Thursday, April 20th, 2023.

Fabian Benjamin, JAMB's head of public affairs and protocol, said in a statement that the board's management approved the changes at a meeting on Tuesday.

Mr Benjamin stated that registration for the 2023 UTME will begin on Saturday, January 14, 2023, and will end on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

He stated that the computer-based UTME test will be held between Saturday, April 29, 2023, and Monday, May 12, 2023.

The agency has also set Thursday, March 16, 2023, as the date for its optional mock UTME.

Meanwhile, Mr Benjamin stated that registration for Direct Entry (DE) candidates will take place from Monday, February 20th to Thursday, April 20th, 2023.

The board, on the other hand, changed the format of the mock UTME, which is usually held before the main exams.

He stated that candidates must now pay N1,000 during registration to avoid losses for CBT center operators if they fail to appear for the mock exams.

While the Mock UTME is optional, JAMB stated that many candidates have previously failed to appear on the date of the mock exams after CBT centers must have prepared for the tests.

He said:

"Candidates are to note that they would be required to pay the sum of N1000 service charge for CBT centres for the conduct of mock examination at the point of registration to avoid a situation where candidates would indicate their interest in sitting the mock-UTME, leading the various centres to commit human and material resources only to stay away on the day of the examination,"

"With the new arrangement, candidates indicate their interest by paying for the mock at the point of UTME registration, therefore, precluding the centres from incurring any loss whether candidates turn up or not.

"To avoid being caught in any ensuing bottleneck, the Board advises all candidates who wish to register for the 2023 UTME to immediately begin creating their respective profiles (creation of profile code) ahead of the formal start of the registration exercise."
