Assassination Attempt On My Life": Lp Gubernatorial Candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-vivour Recounts Gunshots Fired At His Campaign In Lagos' Epe Area

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour party governorship candidate in Lagos State, has confirmed that there was a gunshot incident during his campaign in the Epe area of Lagos State on Saturday, March 11. Earlier on Saturday, there were unconfirmed reports on social media that gunshots were fired at the campaign train of the politician in the Epe area of the state. In an interview with Arise TV on Sunday morning, Gbadebo explained that he was in the community to campaign when some men wearing a political party's campaign shirts obstructed their movement. He said the timely intervention of the police and the Department of State Services (DSS), who were on his train, helped prevent the incident from escalating.

According to Gbadebo, there have been several threats, and he has received intelligence about potential assassination attempts on his life. The politician also revealed that Honorable Wale Oluwo, who was on his train, and Honorable Najid of the PDP working with them, were also shot at in Epe the previous day. Gbadebo noted that there was a lot of anger among the APC youths present because those who obstructed their movement were wearing Greater Rising T-shirts, confirming that they were members of the APC.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour condemned the violence and said that Lagos State should move away from being defined by violence, vitriol, anger, suppression, and intimidation. He added that if you do your job, you should not have to intimidate people. He explained how the incident happened, stating that as their convoy was moving, a lot of young men came out and tried to block the road, and they couldn't go in. He said they had a lot of force with them in terms of the police, but it was crucial not to show any force as the opposition party might spin it to suggest he came to take over Epe and used guns. Gbadebo revealed that the police went in and tried to allay everything, while the DSS was also helpful in trying to neutralize the situation. He confirmed that the men shot at them and tried to intimidate them.
