Anambra State Governor Orders Probe Into Controversial Utme Result, Panel Of Inquiry Set Up

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has taken action in response to the controversy surrounding the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result of Ejikeme Mmeoma, a pupil from the state. The governor has ordered a probe into the matter, seeking to uncover the truth behind the discrepancies in the examination scores.

Earlier reports revealed that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had accused Ms Ejikeme of falsifying her result. According to JAMB, she allegedly claimed a score of 362 while her actual score was recorded as 249. This revelation led to a series of events, including the award of a N3 million scholarship by the founder of Innoson Motors, Innocent Chukwum, and the Anambra state government's plan to honor her as the top scorer.

In response to these developments, the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, released a statement on July 3, announcing the establishment of a panel of inquiry. The panel will collaborate with security agents to investigate the allegations of result falsification leveled against Mmesoma Ejikeme, who had previously been hailed on social media as the highest scorer.

The commissioner expressed her concern about the controversy surrounding the girl's result, particularly emphasizing the significance of this issue at a time when Governor Chukwuma Soludo is working towards revitalizing the education sector in Anambra State.

Meanwhile, Nkechinyere Umeh has been recognized by JAMB as the highest scorer nationwide, achieving an impressive cumulative mark of 360 in the 2023 UTME. The announcement serves as a positive contrast to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding Ejikeme's result.

As the panel of inquiry begins its investigation, the public eagerly awaits its findings and hopes for a swift resolution to this matter. The outcome of this probe will have implications not only for the individuals involved but also for the integrity of the education system and the state's commitment to excellence.
