Bandits carry out a series of kidnappings in Zamfara State, targeting a nursing mother, her 14-year-old son, and four young women. The nursing mother and her son were abducted from their residence in Saminaka, a community located along Gusau-Sokoto road. The incident took place in the early hours of Tuesday, July 25, 2023. Notably, the abduction occurred merely two days after the couple's newborn baby had its naming ceremony. As of now, the newborn is being cared for by the father, who is a lecturer at the Federal College of Technology (FCET) Gusau.
Reports indicate that the armed bandits forcefully broke through the wall of the residence and demanded to know the whereabouts of the husband. Upon not finding him, they proceeded to take his wife and their eldest son to an undisclosed location. The father's absence during the incident has left the family in distress, and authorities are working to secure the safe return of the abducted individuals.
In another distressing incident, bandits attacked a house in Mada village, located in the Gusau Local Government Area of the state. The criminals forcibly entered the premises, abducting four young women. The situation has sparked concern and fear among the residents, and security measures are being closely monitored in the affected regions.
The kidnappings have raised alarm and prompted authorities to take immediate action to rescue the abducted victims and apprehend the perpetrators. The incidents underscore the ongoing security challenges faced by communities in Zamfara State, with banditry and kidnapping incidents continuing to pose threats to civilians in the region.
