In response to circulating rumors on social media, veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Ezeonu has emphatically refuted claims of her demise. In a video shared on her Instagram page, she clarified that she is "alive and healthy." Ezeonu explained that a previous post featuring a candle was a tribute to a departed friend, not an indication of her own death.
Addressing the misinformation, she emphasized, “It is wrong. I am alive and healthy, please.” Expressing concern over the spread of false news, she urged caution in journalism, emphasizing the importance of verifying information before sharing.
“In journalism, what you do when in doubt is you leave out. If you cannot get across to the person to at least confirm the story, you don’t post," she stated in the video. Ezeonu called for responsible social media behavior in the new year, discouraging the spread of false information that could cause harm.
“The calls I have been receiving have been very worrisome. I don’t know why anybody should take my post,” she added, urging others to exercise discretion and avoid causing unnecessary distress.
