Nollywood actor Damola Olatunji recently spoke out about the prevalence of fake love and unhealthy competition within the movie industry. In an interview with colleague Biola Bayo on her show "Talk to B," Olatunji revealed that most attacks on celebrities originate from within the industry itself. He explained that many faceless trolls are actually fellow actors using anonymous accounts to undermine others.
Olatunji shared his concerns about why some actors feel the need to bring others down to elevate themselves, noting that his investigation confirmed that many attacks come from within the industry. He advised aspiring actors and actresses to develop a strong mental resilience, or "shock absorber," as the industry lacks genuine love and is often characterized by superficial interactions.
He emphasized that while actors may gather for celebrations and appear friendly, true love and support are rare. Olatunji advised newcomers not to engage in competition but to focus on their own paths and progress at their own pace.
In his words, "If you are coming into the entertainment industry, you need to have a shock absorber. In an industry where there is no true love, where we pretend to love each other but deep down, we don’t, it's important to be strong. Most of the trolling comes from within the industry. I don’t compete with anybody; I run my race at my own pace."
