Mr. Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has officially petitioned the Lagos State Attorney General, Lawal Pedro (SAN), demanding swift prosecution of those allegedly responsible for his son’s death.
Through his lawyer, Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN), Aloba submitted the petition on October 3, 2025, insisting that Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi Aloba, the auxiliary nurse Ogedengbe Fisayo, Prime Boy, and others named in the coroner’s report must be charged within 14 days.
This follows the coroner’s inquest delivered three months ago by Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi, which faulted several individuals for negligence and complicity.
Nurse Ogedengbe was accused of unlawfully administering injections — tetanus, paracetamol, and ceftriaxone — without proper diagnosis.
Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi, was faulted for negligence for allowing an unqualified nurse to treat him instead of seeking proper medical care.
Prime Boy and others present were also criticized for failing to rush the singer to a hospital when he was in distress.
Despite these findings, no one has been prosecuted since the verdict in July — a delay that Aloba’s legal team fears could deny justice.
The petition warns that if the state does not act within the 14-day deadline, they will apply for legal permission to prosecute the suspects privately under Lagos State law.
Mohbad’s father emphasized that the case remains of high public interest and vowed not to rest until justice is served.
