President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after attending the Aqaba Process Heads of State and Government Meeting in Rome, Italy. He departed Nigeria on October 12 for the summit, which officially began on October 14.
According to a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tinubu’s participation in the event reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to working with other nations to strengthen regional and global security.
The Aqaba Process, launched in 2015 by King Abdullah II of Jordan, is an international initiative focused on counter-terrorism. It is jointly led by Jordan and Italy.
This year’s edition in Rome centred on improving cooperation among countries to combat terrorism and violent extremism, with a particular focus on the growing threats in West Africa.
Tinubu’s attendance at the summit highlights Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to build strong alliances in the fight against insecurity.
