Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has praised her senior colleague and former boss, Funke Akindele, following her historic box office achievement.
It was reported on Monday that Funke Akindele made history by becoming the first Nigerian filmmaker to gross ₦2 billion at the box office. The record-breaking success has continued to attract praise from fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry.
Taking to her Instagram page, Juliana Olayode described Funke as an exceptional woman and expressed gratitude to God for continually blessing her hard work with massive success. She said Akindele’s achievement did not come by chance or luck, but through years of dedication, sacrifice, and tireless effort.
The actress, fondly known as “Toyo Baby,” noted that Funke worked through pain, struggles, and limited resources in the early days of her career, yet never gave up. She added that Akindele consistently pushed forward, setting new standards and opening doors for others in the industry.
Juliana praised Funke for paving the way and showing that reaching a billion naira at the box office was possible, before going further to prove that ₦2 billion and even more could be achieved. She described Funke as a five-time highest-grossing queen and celebrated her for continuously raising the bar.
She concluded by praying that God’s grace would continue to carry Funke Akindele and congratulated the entire cast and crew involved in the successful projects, describing the achievement as a great win for Nollywood.
