Datti Baba-Ahmed Says ADC Lacks Political Heavyweights Like Buhari and Tinubu

The vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has claimed that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition does not have strong political figures capable of matching former President Muhammadu Buhari or President Bola Tinubu.

Baba-Ahmed made this statement during an interview on Trust TV, where he questioned the political strength of the ADC and its ability to present a formidable presidential candidate.

According to him, the party lacks personalities with the influence and experience of Buhari or Tinubu.

“They don’t have a Buhari or a Tinubu in the ADC. Tinubu has a lot of sense. They don’t have it in ADC,” he said.

He also warned that the coalition could face internal disagreements depending on who eventually emerges as its presidential candidate.

Baba-Ahmed explained that if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar wins the party’s ticket, some members may not support him. Likewise, if Peter Obi or Rotimi Amaechi emerges as the candidate, others within the coalition may resist the decision.

“Because today, if Atiku wins the ticket, others have a problem with that. If Obi or Amaechi wins the ticket, other candidates will have a problem with it,” he stated.

Re-emphasizing his point, he added, “They don’t have a Buhari in ADC.”

His remarks have since stirred political discussions, as debates continue over the strength and unity of opposition coalitions ahead of future elections.
