Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz Malami, have pleaded not guilty to a five-count amended charge filed against them on Wednesday.
The charges, brought by the Federal Government, relate to alleged illegal possession of firearms as well as other serious allegations previously filed against them.
The Department of State Services (DSS) had earlier arraigned the defendants on February 3, 2026, on a five-count charge involving alleged terrorism financing, aiding terrorism, and unlawful possession of firearms.
Malami was also accused of failing to prosecute suspected terrorism financiers during his time in office, as well as allegedly possessing a Sturm Magnum 17-0101 firearm and ammunition unlawfully.
Both defendants had earlier pleaded not guilty to the initial charges and were granted bail by the court.
At the resumed hearing on Wednesday, prosecution counsel, Akinlolu Kehinde, informed the court that an amended charge dated April 14, 2026, had been filed and served on the defendants. He requested the court to replace the earlier charge with the new one so that fresh pleas could be taken.
In response, defence counsel, Shaibu Arua, confirmed that they had received the amended charge.
The case has been adjourned as legal proceedings continue.
