There were emotional scenes in Oyo State as pupils rescued from captivity in Oriire Local Government Area were finally reunited with their families after receiving medical treatment.
The children, who spent 56 days in captivity, were discharged from the hospital after doctors confirmed they were fit to return home. Their reunion with loved ones was marked by tears, prayers, and heartfelt celebrations.
During the handover ceremony, officials called out the names of each rescued pupil one after another while anxious parents and relatives waited with hope and anticipation. As names such as Testimony, Aliyu Ahmed, Abati Elizabeth, and Adeleke Joshua were announced, emotional family members rushed forward to embrace their children.
Many parents broke down in tears after seeing their children alive for the first time in nearly two months. Others knelt in gratitude, offering prayers and thanking God for preserving the lives of the rescued pupils.
One emotional mother, reunited with her daughter, Testimony, expressed deep appreciation to God and everyone who contributed to the children's rescue.
"I give thanks! My merciful God, I give thanks. I never knew my child, Testimony, would return to me alive. What have I done to deserve such love?
"May God bless our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde, the police, the army, the pastors, and everyone who fasted and prayed for my daughter while she was in the forest. Lord, I thank You so much."
Hospital personnel supervised the discharge process, ensuring each child was safely released into the care of their families.
The emotional reunion has touched many Nigerians, with videos of parents embracing their children spreading across social media and drawing widespread reactions of relief, gratitude, and joy.
