The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on Saturday, August 22, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, at the historic Rumfa Palace in Kano.
The visit comes amid increasing political activities and preparations ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
According to Muhammad Dallatu, a close associate of the Emir who confirmed the development to Punch, Yilwatda met with Sanusi shortly after the monarch returned from Abuja.
Dallatu said the APC chairman’s visit was a courtesy call and that both men subsequently held a private, closed-door meeting at the palace.
While the meeting has attracted attention given the current political climate, details of the discussions remain undisclosed. No official statement has been released on the specific issues discussed or whether the meeting was connected to the upcoming 2027 elections.
The development is nevertheless significant, as meetings between senior political figures and influential traditional rulers often generate public interest, particularly ahead of major electoral contests.
